"FROM THE OLD HOME PLACE "
Fixing things...
Within the first few months of
our arrival in Brazil, we began learning a few phrases in the
Portuguese Language, however our oldest daughter, a little over three
years old at the time, playing with the neighbor children, was learning
a lot faster. Our next door neighbors, a Christian family that had
“adopted” us, had a son named Ephraim, who was very
feisty, and more than a bit destructive, especially where it dealt with
our daughter’s toys.
I’ve always had a “gift” for repairing
things, at least after I learned that taking it apart was the easiest
step..... Anyway, Ephraim was keeping me busy repairing Vicki
Lynne’s toys, and if that weren’t enough, I heard
her tell him one day, “Go ahead and break it. My dad can fix
anything...!”
One of the interesting effects of the Gospel in the lives of people is
that as they get their hearts “fixed” before the
Lord, they also want to get their lives “fixed”.
These days, we are working with a person whose life got
“broken” recently. The pieces are scattered all
over, just like in the story of “HUMPTY-DUMPTY”,
and it often seems that there will never be a way to put it all back
together, because the “arch-enemy of our souls”
just loves to scatter the bits again.
Through heartbreaks, tears and disappointments, we are here for this
person, and offer counsel and encouragement, trusting that God would
after all, remake this broken vessel for His own glory as He has the
others.
We’re looking forward to the day in which we can look at this
person and see the smile return to his face.
What is there in your own life that needs “fixing”?
Remember that God specializes in fixing broken lives.
