Our Beginnings -- 1941

In July of 1941, the Revs. D. W. French and Bob Doan came to Sophia and conducted a tent revival. In that same month, July of 1941, on the 29th, several people met with these ministers to organize the church. It was organized with seventeen members.

Brother French was elected as Pastor, and served in this position until his death in September of 1957. Rev. Doan was elected as assistant Pastor

The building was completed in November of 1941, and Brother Doan preached the first sermon in it on November 30th.

The first Sunday School was organized with 63 enrollees on December 21, 1941.
